Our Story

John R. Long was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Since he was a young child, drawing and painting have been a part of his life. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri, where he studied automotive design and mechanical engineering. Throughout his adult life, he continues to pursue his passion for painting. Since retiring from a career in the manufacturing industry he devotes his time to plein air painting (painting outdoors in an impressionistic style). He has a fondness for the Missouri countryside and as a result, landscapes are a large part of his repertoire. Mr.Long's fascination with painting has always been the challenge to express the mood of the scene through color and value. Wherever he travels, he takes paints and canvases to capture the character of the region. In addition to painting, John also enjoys building beautiful custom acoustic guitars.
